The flood at Riverview Farm

This is a self portrait of Mr. Frank Drew, who was quite a photographer,and  developing his own pictures.  He's pictures usually told a story with that Yankee humor he had.  Living most his life at Riverview Farm on Nute rd, one year there was more then usual rain fall. That  year it flooded the field and crossed the road. So in typical Mr. Drew humor, he's going to have a picnic on his boat on the flooded area.  Come Tomorrow Night, November 1, at 6:00 at the Town Hall to learn more about our Unique residents and our towns history. It is a potluck, everyone is invited.

Baseball and Madbury

This is from the book Madbury People and Places Which we hope to update and reprint for our Town's 250 anniversary.

"When Joseph Cole, Jr., was a young man, he was interested in

baseball. He played on the University of New Hampshire team at

third base. After graduation in the class of 1929, he continued playing

and in 1930 was a member of the Orioles Baseball Team of Barrington,

New Hampshire. The team captured both the county and'State championships;

and, in 1938, was in competition with state champion teams

all over the United States. In the play-off at Wichita, Kansas, they

finished in fifth place and were given the United States Sportsmanship
Award."

 Joe Cole was a selectman for Madbury from 1950-54. I remember him as the road agent of Madbury. I believe that is what he was called, he worked with his crew fixing the roads.

Madbury Day is this Saturday, June 4th at the Madbury Town Hall. We will have lots of events, music, yard sales, animals, food, children games, old cars, craft booths, and parade. Who knows we may even see a car float like this one! This car was all decorated for the Dover Parade in 1923, By Mr. Frank Drew. He used to live in Riverview Farm on Nute rd.  Kind of wonder how the truck float looked liked after the trip to Dover. The roads were a bit more rustic then.  Please come to our celebration this Saturday!!

Madbury Day!

                 Did you know Madbury Day was not always a celebration.But instead a work day at the Town Hall to repair and spruce up the building. Here they are putting in new steps on the original Town Hall (the old part).
               Don't forget our Madbury Day will be held June 4th this year. Please come and support your town non-profit organizations. We will have music, games, crafters, food and animals. It should be a fun time for all and we promise we won't put you to work fixing the Town Hall.
